Kabaddi is a contact sport that originated in the Punjab region, in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. There are a number of traditional Punjabi kabaddi styles traditionally played in the Punjab region. As standard kabaddi, circle style kabaddi is also played at state and international levels, through various governing bodies.
Currently there are three governing bodies in Australia that hold Kabaddi events throughout the year, of these three one that focuses on local players, whereas the other two are at an international level with players participating from around the world. In the last few years, these bodies have held Australia World cups where teams and players from different countries participate at a world cup level with thousands of spectators.
Australia held its first world cup in 2018 with teams participating from India, Pakistan, USA, Canada and many more. Players represented their countries and skill for spectators that love Kabaddi.
Australia has also participated in other world cups outside of Australia to represent their country, they have played in India, Pakistan etc.
